# Japanese IQ Test

This is an IQ test given to job applicants in Japan.

Beside a river there is:

• Father
• Son 1
• Son 2
• Mother
• Daughter 1
• Daughter 2
• Policeman
• Thief
"Everybody has to cross the river"

The following rules apply:

1. Only 2 people on the raft at a time.
2. The Father cannot stay with any of the daughters, without their Mother's presence.
3. The Mother cannot stay with any of the sons, without their Father's presence
4. The thief cannot stay with any family member, if the Policeman is not there.
5. Only the Father, the Mother and the Policeman know how to operate the raft.

That doesn't make sense because the father's with daughter one without the mother when the mother goes back for daughter two!

The answer is actually incorrect. If you play the game and try it exactly that way, it does not work.
This is the beginning of your answer:
Cop & Thief -->
<-- Cop
Cop & Son 1 -->
<-- Cop & Thief
Father & Son 1 -->
<-- Father
Father & Son 2 -->
<-- Father
Father & Mother -->
<-- Mother
Cop & Thief -->
<-- Father
Father & Mother -->
<-- Mother
Mother & Daughter 1 -->
((This is where your answer fails. If you bring the mother back, the father is left alone with the first daughter. It does not work this way. In order for the 2nd daughter to make it across, the rest needs to work like this:))
<-- Cop & Thief
Cop & Daughter 2 -->
<-- Cop
Cop & Thief -->
Now you have brought them all safely across the river! It was a good try, though. And the game was quite fun. Thanks(:
